The Helpdesk

The Campbell University Helpdesk is here to help students with support on network and software issues.  Our staff strives to provide the best level of customer support possible.

Location:  We are currently located in the 003 in the basement of Baldwin Hall, in what used to be the Pine Burr's office.

Hours:  Our hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 5 pm.

Contact information:  We may be reached at extension 1208 or through email at helpdesk@campbell.edu.

What we do:  Our primary goal is to assist the students in whatever way is possible.  In that regard, over the phone and in the office, we aid students in cleaning viruses and spyware, updating their machines for protection, and diagnosing other issues.  At present, we do not do any hardware work, but will make recommendations based on our observations.

If you have a question about your student email or the account used to log on to Web Access, you may call, but please have your student identification number ready.

For in office work, you must make an appointment, this way we can do our best to work machines in an order that returns them to their owner in a timely manner.  Also, if you have special needs with your computer (USB keyboards and mice, external CD-ROMs or floppies, etc) you will need to bring those in as well.  For desktops, exempting the above examples, we only need the tower.  We have a pair of monitors for desktop maintenance, as well as the keyboards and mice necessary.

With laptops, we do not work on a machine until we have a power cord.  The reasoning behind this is that if the power fails while we are doing certain points of maintenance, there is a risk of damage to the machine.  Please, bring the cord with your laptop.
