Anti-Virus Information
Connecting to the internet without an anti-virus is the equivalent of jumping out of an airplane without checking your parachute. Sure, it might open and you might land safely, or you might reach to pull that cord and find out that you've picked up someone's backpack with a few notebooks and a cooking pot, just like in the cartoons. Then what do you do? You lose everything.
With computers, the end is the same. Many cases of infections without anti-viruses intact leave the system requiring a system restore. Restoring the system requires completely erasing the hard drive, so all of your documents, pictures, games, and everything else that is installed on your computer is erased. The better method of protection is to just install an anti-virus.
