Tony W. Cartledge

Tony W. Cartledge teaches in the area of Old Testament. Cartledge is the author of Vows in the Old Testament and the Ancient Near East, 1-2 Samuel (for the Smyth & Helwys Bible Commentary), and Intrigued, How I Love to Proclaim It. He is co-author, with his wife, Jan, of A Whole New World: Life After Bethany, and Job: Into the Fire, Out of the Ashes. A new book, tentatively entitled Telling Stories: Tall Tales and Deep Truths, should be published in 2008.  

In addition to his teaching responsibilities at Campbell, Dr. Cartledge is Contributing Editor for Baptists Today, a national, autonomous news journal. Previously, Dr. Cartledge was Editor/President of the Biblical Recorder, a news journal related to the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina, for almost nine years. Prior to that, he served as pastor of five churches during a 26-year period, with the last 10 years being at Woodhaven Baptist Church near Apex and Cary, N.C.

Dr. Cartledge frequently speaks at churches, associations, and conferences. He also blogs regularly on a variety of topics at www.tonycartledge.com. Dr. Cartledge is the husband of Rev. Jan Rush Cartledge and is father of Russ, Bethany, and Samuel.
