Roy E. De Brand teaches biblical preaching. He is the author of six books and numerous articles and was a weekly columnist of the Americus Times-Recorder for five years. He continues to research the history of preaching and work other writing projects, including a contemporary, inclusive language version of a devotional classic. In 2004 he led the Great Preachers of the Reformation Study Tour in Europe, in 2006 he led the Great Preachers of Great Britain Study Tour in England and Scotland, and in 2007 he led the Reformation and Anabaptist Study Tour in Germany.

Dr. De Brand has been a visiting scholar at Oxford University in England and taught adjunctively at Baptist Theological Seminary in Richmond. He has traveled extensively and has lived in the Bahama Islands, Germany, and Austria. Prior to joining the Campbell faculty in 2002, he taught preaching at North American Baptist Seminary and Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, and served as a pastor for 27-plus years.

Dr. De Brand’s passion is preaching. He was called to preach on 1 May 1960, preached his first sermon two weeks later, and is still preaching. He has served as pastor of churches in Texas, Georgia, and Virginia, and has done numerous interim pastorates in his seventeen years of teaching.

Dr. De Brand is married to Carolyn and they have two children and one grandson. His hobbies include reading, traveling, and collecting bubble gum machines.
