About Blackboard

Welcome

In the Spring 0f 2000, Campbell University began to offer select courses on the internet in an effort to accommodate the needs and schedules of adult learners. Over the past three years, the program's growth has been carefully monitored to ensure that courses meet both the academic standards and general mission of the University. Students must meet certain eligibility requirements to enroll in these classes.. Information regarding those requirements for eligibility may be obtained from one of the following locations:
  • A visit to the nearest extended campus site, the Extended Campus office on the main campus, or in ice the Distance Education office also on the main campus. The attached link provides access to the extended campus education web page. You may then access the nearest site location from the following link: Extended Campus Information
  • Students attending courses on the main campus who desire to take internet courses should contact their academic advisor. Once this has been initiated, students are directed to contact the Office of Extended Campus Education in the College of Arts and Sciences. Schedules and enrollment forms are available.
  • For an overview of Blackboard and how it functions click on “Student Orientation” under “Quicklinks” above.

Course Requirements.

Students will take courses on a server-based version of an Application Service provider named Blackboard. This provider hosts courses on a dedicated platform from which the course is conducted.

Students, who take courses on Blackboard with Campbell University, are required to complete a student self-pace introductory tutorial prior to taking their respective classes. About one week prior to the commencement of classes, students will be placed in their courses. Blackboard can be accessed via the Distance Education web page or at this address: www.blackboard.campbell.edu.

Blended Courses

Blended courses combine on-line and classroom activity. Students taking courses in a blended format on the main campus will coordinate access procedures and eligibility requirements with their respective instructors. Extended Campus blended course procedures and requirements have been separately developed. Students are directed to contact their instructors separately in regard to enrollment procedures.
